We are not going to do a big, commercialized Christmas, but we do like to light up the neighborhood with a bit of spirit. HA’s younger son made a surprise visit for Thanksgiving, and together we set up the Frosty the Snowman decoration which has been a tradition in their family. We included a string of Christmas lights. They’re just off the road near the main gate, really the only part of the compound that’s visible to passersby.
Last year, we were hard-pressed to keep Frosty illuminated as we did not yet have electrical wiring to the garage. This year, a short extension cord gives Frosty all the power he needs (15 watts including the string of lights). We also integrated him with Home Assistant to turn him off and on at appropriate times
