They call the microclimate around the compound a mist forest or cloud forest. It can be sunny and clear, then within minutes clouds will flow through the gaps in the trees and shroud the pasture in a cloudy mist. Today, the day was bright and sunny, the sky was blue, and the solar plant batteries were fully charged by 11:30am. Around 3pm the mist did its thing. It became dark and foggy. Within three hours we’d had half an inch of much-needed rain.
In the previous century I lived in San Francisco for a short while. One of the more dramatic weather phenomenon was the fog that would often roll in majestically during the day. More recently, it has been christened Karl the Fog.
Our fog is every bit as dramatic and beautiful, but we have the advantage that the daytime temperature here rarely drops below 60°F.
