We eat a lot of avocados. HA makes unbelievably good guacamole, and we often put avocados in salads, on egg dishes, and I’ve been known to eat them with a spoon directly out of the skin.
Like a lot of foodstuffs, avocados are pretty expensive here. The first time I went grocery shopping, I think they were $6 each. Depressing, but…
We has avocado tree! At least three, in fact.
They just recently started fruiting a lot. The photo is from up on our back deck; the avocado tree is behind the palm tree. It’s big, but it’s also really tall and the fruit is mostly out of reach. The Hired Hand climbed our 10’ orchard ladder with our 15’ picker, and got almost two dozen from the one spot. When our tree isn’t fruiting, we have friends and neighbors with trees. So we’ll share everything around and avoid the supermarket prices.
