On two recent flights (including the one that featured the airline seat from hell, I noticed that part of the regular safety announcement was:

“Please breathe normally until we tell you it is no longer needed.”

I guess it’s pretty obvious they meant “until we tell you the mask is no longer needed” but my brain couldn’t help hearing, literally, what they actually said. So what do you do when you get the announcement that says…

“Breathing normally is no longer needed.”

Does that mean you can resume the panic breathing that started when you saw the masks drop from the ceiling? Or does it mean that circumstances have become so dire that there’s really no point in bothering to breathe anymore?
