Our wall space is at a premium and we only occasionally watch TV. No propagandist news stations droning in the background all day, thank you. We found a cool ceiling TV mount to get the TV out of the way when we’re not watching. Then we dealt with the problems of too-short cords and too many ugly cables by mounting stuff on the back of the TV. We still had to have two cables going from the ground up to the television: the power cord and an HDMI reverse audio channel (ARC) cable to bring sound to the sound bar.
Yesterday, I finally had all the parts I needed to try to make things a little neater looking. Our house is single-wall construction (tongue-and-groove in that part of the house) so there’s no hiding cables inside walls. Instead, I got a long white extension cord and a long white HDMI cable and ran them through some (somewhat) decorative cable raceways. There’s a “belly band” around the inside walls of the house, a standard feature for this type of construction, so I had to leave a gap in the raceway for the cables to go over it.
It isn’t perfect, but it’s not too horrible and will blend in even more after we paint.
