I had my surgical follow-up appointment this morning. The highlight, of course, was getting to see the results of the surgical pathology. The only surprise was that the ultrasound reported the size of the larger tumor at 1.5cm, while the pathology measured it at 3.0cm. That’s a big difference, but likely all due to the limitations of ultrasound. It does, however, mean that the decision to perform surgery was the right one.
From the doctor office, I went straight to the airport for my flight to the island. I have a layover in Seatac, which seems to have suffered some sort of cyberattack this morning, so I don’t know if things will be delayed but I’m sure I’ll get there one way or the other.
It’s been quite the week, getting the offspring moved out and stuff organized and partially packed and dealing with recovery from cancer surgery and a tropical storm on the island (over 15” of rain in two days) while we’re trying to get the place ready for Luna the Big Dog™ and getting all her travel plans in place and getting the Junkyard Server Farm ready to move. I’m kind of anxious that I don’t have email (the server is in my carry-on) but I’m looking forward to plugging in at the island place. Whew! But it’s certainly a relief to know that there’s no evidence of spread or residual cancer. We’ll have to follow things annually, and we’re still in the process of getting my hormone replacement dose correct, but this is as close as one can get to being cured so I am thankful.
