photo of the interior of the outdoor shower, showing some new grab bars and flooring

HA’s dad is visiting. He’s in his early 80’s and has had a couple of knee replacements, so his gait is a little unsteady. Also, I’m not getting any younger so accessibility issues are becoming increasingly important. The floor of our beloved outdoor shower was bare concrete that has had shower water beating at it for 100 years or so, and it had become quite rough. HA didn’t seem to mind, but I could barely take the pain long enough to get a good shower. A couple of years back, I put a large round stepping stone on the shower floor. It was much smoother and more comfortable, but it was only about 30” round so it was easy to step off the side of it.

To celebrate my father-in-law’s visit, I installed a couple of strategically placed grab bars, and I took out the stepping stone and replaced it with some spongy shower flooring. It looks decent and works really well.

Also in evidence is HA’s project to re-paint and stencil the shower walls.
