twoprops.net is moving temporarily to the cloud. You might have noticed that I’m not generally a fan, preferring self-hosting from home. Things are moving fast here on the mainland, though, and I had a bit of a setback in my recovery from my cancer surgery today (nothing serious; I just felt like garbage and couldn’t get much done). I’m supposed to be packing up, and that includes the junkyard server farm. The email server is going to be hand-carried to preserve the confidentiality of its content, but the web servers are mostly going to go by boat. I wanted this site and QRazy.fun to keep their high availability, though, so I decided to move them to a cloud server until I get settled on the island.

The free salvage Tesla goes on a boat next week for its weeks-long journey across the sea. The following week, I get my pathology results and hop on a plane. HA takes Luna the Big Dog™ to her cargo flight right after while I station myself at the airport to collect her when she arrives. HA will then supervise the movers packing our stuff, and hop on a plane once our container is safely aboard the container ship.

So how is the move to the cloud going? You’re reading this from the cloud server! It was a challenge as I’m not mentally at 100% yet, but it’s a simple site.

Tomorrow, QRazy.fun.
