Last year we built the new garage.

Well, almost. It was finished in time for us to have a place to put all our hoarded trash valuable household possessions when our ship came in, but the garage door itself fell off the boat on its way from the mainland. We had to put up a garage curtain to keep our things dry until the door arrived.

The next garage door fell in transit yet again, but eventually we got a garage door in place, though it was missing its windows.

Even after we got the windows and opener in place, however, there was a significant gap between the top of the door and the garage. We also never put trim around the opening, as we weren’t sure of the final fit of the door.

A good while later, I found brushes that I could install above the door to make something of a seal when it was closed, in spite of the big gap at the top.

But we still weren’t done! The trim around the door had never been installed. I ordered the material for it when I bought stuff for the pavilion deck and, as that project is currently stalled, today the Hand and I put up the trim. Looks a lot better, I think!

It still needs false batten strips and paint to match the house, but we continue sweating the details.
