I did not anticipate how far off the ground the pavilion deck would end up being. I knew I would have to add stairs, but I thought it could wait until the end. Alas, it was a serious pain to get on and off the deck during contruction, and the Hired Hand suffered a knee strain as a result.
Over the weekend, I was determined to get some stairs in place. I had picked up materials during my recent ill-fated trip to town and so set to work.
I put in a little too much effort, particularly when I encountered a big root and a rock while removing sod to set the foundation for the stairs. I ended up with low back strain, and didn’t get the stairs finished.
The Hand arrived this morning with a limp and a knee brace, and I was walking stiffly averse to any bending down, but between us we were able to finish the stair project.
