I have been running GrapheneOS on my phone for several years now. First and foremost, it aligns with my belief that it is inherently dangerous to invest resources and trust in software that is not free and open source (FOSS). In addition, GrapheneOS is extensively hardened in ways that protect the users’ privacy.
It is astonishing how much information we trust to our phones. That most of us do so on phones completely controlled by proprietary software from companies notorious for collecting information on their users is kind of shocking. When I was working as a physician and psychiatrist, I wanted to be able to use my phone in my practice but didn’t want to leak patient information to Apple or Google. Mostly, I just kept such information off my phone. GrapheneOS offers an alternative phone platform that lets you use your phone with some confidence that the information you store on it won’t be abused.
