photo of an angel's trumpet tree with dramatic, hanging trumpet-shaped flowers

There are a lot of wild and crazy flowers on this island. One of the most dramatic is the angel’s trumpet (Brugmansia versicolor) with blossoms that are trumpet-shaped and hang down 8” or more. The flowers are sweet smelling but apparently the plant (a member of the nightshade family) is all poisonous. They are similar to, and often confused with, datura. Some varieties are considered hallucinogenic, though I’m not planning to experiment with ours.
