Three days ago, I got an earache. For some reason, all I could think of was that ancient Cheech and Chong bit where an exasperated dad tells his teenage son (who’s complaining of an earache) “earache my eye — how would you like a butt ache.” I blew off the pain and fullness for a couple of days.
Last night the pain kept me awake much of the night and became excruciating during the day. I saw a doc today; it’s kind of hard to do one’s own ear exam even with a fiber optic scope. She prescribed a course of amoxicillin+clavulanate. I’m home on analgesics waiting for the antibiotics to work their magic.
I recently started a water aerobics course at the local municipal pool. I don’t know if that contributed, but it’s odd to have an earache. It’s been at least 20 years since my last one.
