photo of the new garage with a fresh coat of barn-red paint

The sheathing we used on the garage had a weather-resistant finish, so we didn’t feel pressure to get it painted. There was exposed trim, though, and so the Hand primed that, and then applied a coat of barn-red paint to the base while the weather was good. It looks so much better than it used to. The trim is still just primer, but it will be getting a coat of white which I don’t suspect will look much different than it does now.

The color scheme matches (for some degree of equivalence) the house and the outdoor shower. I was going to put up false battens, as the shower and the new (1930) wing of the house are board-and-batten, but the texture on the sheathing actually matches the old (1914) house tongue-and-groove construction and I’m happy with the result without. We’ll be repainting the house and shower building with the same colors, and we’ll also paint the studio to match. Whether we also paint the shed (older than the house!) and the barn remains to be seen.
