We’ve been on a whirlwind trip through Los Angeles on the occasion of my older son’s graduation from UCLA. My younger son graduated from high school last week. Big changes!
A lot of people seem to feel compelled to congratulate me. I appreciate the sentiment and I get it: there’s certainly some effort and sacrifice required to raise children and get them through college. But, truly, the congratulations must go to them. They’re the ones that charted a course and saw it through, enduring bureaucratic nightmares, wonky assignments, arbitrary deadlines, and all the other ills that befall the academic. And they did it! So congratulations to them.
