Today was the first time I did a full week’s worth of laundry since getting our washer and dryer working. Unlike being stuck at the laundromat, I was able to do other things while the machines were working…

I tried getting the landscaping lights working. They were wired to the 12v batteries of the old solar plant, so quit working when I gave away the old system. I had ordered a 12v power supply, but it kept tripping saying it was overloaded. There are only six lights, so I removed the bulbs from each one but it kept tripping. Even after the last one was removed, it still trips. So either the supply is defective, or there’s a low-impedance short circuit which didn’t show up when we had hundreds of amps available. We might have just been heating up a patch of ground. So our outdoor shower remains dark. The light fixtures were mostly pretty rusty, and three of them use incandescent bulbs for which LED replacements aren’t readily available, so I’ve ordered new path lights which won’t be here for a while.

I started placing the stepping stones around the property. There are many more to go.

I wrote to a friend on the island to try to find a place to help me with my water catchment system.
-
I scanned and shredded some documents that need to be filed.

I resurrected an old WiFi access point to see if it might provide better coverage for the guest in our garage. Alas, the old technology (lacking MIMO, among other things) just isn’t up to the task.
Even though the day started overcast and rainy, and there was broken cloud cover all day, the solar plant came through and I washed and dried three loads. It was cool to be able to do all that without burning any fossil fuels, and to do it without having to leave the sacred mountain.
