The generator house is coming along. It’s now reasonably weather tight, so it was time to take the generator out of the box and test it. The generator, alas, was D-O-A, and Lowe’s is refusing to stand behind it. So we have a generator without the electric start feature we paid for and consider a must-have.

I decided to continue with the project while we wait to find out if Generac’s warranty is worth anything. Today, I figured out how to install the Zombie Box exhaust system. It’s nice, simple, and looks like it will do the job.

Here’s the Generac in the generator house with the exhaust system attached.

If all goes well tomorrow, after my clay fun, I should be able to get the autotransformer wired up and mounted, then apply the acoustic foam to the interior walls.

Even without the foam, this generator is remarkably quiet compared to the beast. I used it to charge the car a bit (the manufacturer’s instructions suggested this might solve the electric start problem), and we could carry on a conversation in normal tones while standing right next to it.
