The other day, I was taking Luna the Big Dog™ on a walk in our neighborhood park. Yes, we have a neighborhood park, as does most every little town on this island. We were walking by the baseball diamond and noticed this sign:
Here’s a close-up. It reads “Rake infield after each use.”
There are even rakes provided to facilitate their request:
Notice that the infield has, indeed, been raked.
Most every place I have ever lived, this would not work. A few people might do some after-use raking, sure. The majority of people would simply ignore the sign. A minority would steal the rakes.
I feel lucky that we live in a place where people rake the infield… and leave the rakes.
