From the time I bought my hot tub in 2020, it had been an important respite. I knew that I’d really miss it when we moved, even though we were bringing it along. Even after our ship came in, though, we couldn’t start using the tub. It needed a level place, which meant building a deck. There was no point in building the deck, though, until we had a place to plug it in. We couldn’t very well wire a plug until we had the energy to supply it. So for the last months we’ve put in the solar plant and got the house wired. We were ready to start building the deck. The materials arrived on Saturday and work was to begin on Monday while I was getting my colonoscopy.
We got some badly-needed rain on Monday (almost 4½ inches!) which delayed the start of things. Today, work started. They worked all day until about 5:00 pm, at which time a sudden downpour signaled the end of the workday. It’s progress, though!
The structural part will likely be done tomorrow. It will have to dry out, then get painted. I’m going to try to rig a hose from the outdoor shower so that I can fill the tub with propane-heated water to jump start the process — otherwise, it would take a couple of days to get up to temperature. But very soon, now. HA and I will be soaking in luxury. The tub will be maintained with catchment water and heated with solar power. We won’t be roughing it any more.

The desk construction is finished. We’re drying it out, then it needs primer and deck paint. Then we can start filling the tub!
