Joulee the Free Salvage Tesla still isn’t here. HA, while traveling to the other side of the island, got a call claiming that Joulee was in the local port and they needed us to drive over there so they could get her off the barge (remember that they lost the key). She was skeptical, and asked “are you 100% sure the car is there.” “That’s what they tell me” was the answer.

So she called me, I dropped everything, she drove the 25 minutes home to pick me up, but before we left she decided that she needed to be even more direct. She called the broker back and asked “Will we be able to pick up our car.” Long pause. “No.” Apparently, this was all just a ruse to get their hands on the spare key, but he did continue to insist that the car was at the port and suggested we might be able to “move the needle” and pick it up once we were actually there.

So we made the hour-plus drive to the port and I met the very nice folks who work there. No, Joulee wasn’t there, Joulee was on a barge. Technically, she was closer to our port than the Big Port, but in no way was she “on the island.”

I do feel some level of trust for the workers at the dock. They seemed genuine and sympathetic. So I gave them the key which they said they would personally steward, and they gave me the direct phone to their office/trailer at the (small) port. They said that the barge would dock on Thursday and get unloaded on Friday but that the car probably wouldn’t be available for pick up until after “one o’clock on Wednesday” but they would call me as soon as she was ready.

And, in the most exciting development to date, Joulee just now reported that she is on dry land at the port on our island.

Agonizingly slow (it’s been 68 days for what was billed as a 1-2 week trip), but progress!
