We’ve been working away at the 12-ton cinder pile despite the broken barrow. We got about ¼ or ⅓ of it moved, and I saw our neighbor this morning and he kindly offered to bring over his wheel loader and help move it. I didn’t think there was any way to get the loader to the correct side of the pile, but he said he was pretty sure he could get it through where we had moved some of the rocks away. He came by a half-hour later with his loader, and moved the rest of the pile up the hill and distributed it around. It was hard work for him, even with the equipment (though he claims to have enjoyed it), and the Hand and I still did a lot of shoveling, barrowing, and raking, but in a few hours we had it looking pretty good. Much faster, and less painful, than doing it all by muscle power.
