We’re waiting on Tropical Stom Moke, but it appears that Moke will be a much less dramatic event than Hurricane Lala. We’ll just stay prepared and hope those already struggling with precarity aren’t further impacted.

In the mean time, we still have 12 tons of red volcanic cinder to move uphill. HA moved a bunch, then I was on my 300th shovelful when our trusty old wheelbarrow gave up the ghost. It’s done yoeman’s service. It was well loved when we moved in here and the previous owner left it for us. It has transported fencing material and horticultural products, livestock feed and building materials, and countless tools to-and-fro. It even sported a gimbal coffee holder. As I was hauling my last load up the hill, the left-hand handle gave way and the barrow is moving on to its well-earned rest.

We’ll borrow a barrow from the neighbors until HA can pick up a new one on her trip to Tourist Town on Sunday.

In spite of the setback, the cinder project has moved forward quite a bit.

Yes, Luna the Big Dog™ is still enjoying hanging out on the cinder, but she wasn’t present for this photo.
