I just took out the trash.

In about 25 weeks, I won’t ever have to do that again. On the Big Island of Hawaii, we will have no trash pickup. We’ll have to haul our own trash to the transfer station. It isn’t far, they’re clean and convenient, and the cost is included in our taxes (which are much lower than here). Still, having in the past lived where I had to haul my own trash, it is rather magical to have big trucks lumber by once a week and haul away our yard waste, compost, recycling, and landfill fodder. I’m appreciating it while I can.
