photo of two lambs in a barn eating hay

The lambs — well, one is a full-grown sheep and the other is his little nephew — came to us without names. I jokingly tossed out “Vinda” and “Lu” (think lamb vindaloo) as a suggestion. Nothing else seems to have had any staying power, though, so Vinda (the big uncle) and Lu (the little nephew) are so named.

Vinda seems to be some kind of escape artist. He has a lead with a heavy metal bolt snap clasp on it, yet he somehow seems to be able to open the clasp and get off his lead. Once he’s off, he’ll stick near Lu but then prances around and runs just out of reach. In his efforts to stay near his uncle, Lu will eventually just pull his neck out of the collar. At this point, then, they’re pretty much free-range sheep but they have no trouble returning to the barn when we want them too.

No, there’s no plans to actually turn Vinda and Lu into curry. Their job is to mow around the pasture, not to provide food.
