photo of the Nissan Titan pickup truck with a tent-on-top camper installed

When HA was introducing me to this island, she rented a pickup truck with a camper tent on top. The island is dotted with parks — many of them at beaches — where you can camp for a modest fee. We traveled around the island so I could get to know the various zones and their climates, flora, and fauna. It’s quite diverse, with sere desert areas just a short drive from rainforests and snowy alpine summits. I fell in love with it and, fortunately, my favorite area (this one!) was also HA’s, though she didn’t tell me until after I had expressed my preference.

When we later found and bought the island place, the previous owner had this Nissan Titan king cab truck he had used for his work. He sold it to us at a good price — I think he was relieved to not have to deal with it, and we knew we’d need a truck. It was a lot more truck than we needed (I’m a fan of small cars) but it has come in handy while we’re creating the compound. HA immediately got a tent camper for it.

We had to take the tent off to get the water tank and then we left it off to make it easier to pick up the sheep, but now it’s safe to put it back on. I managed to get the racks on and move the tent (which weighs over 100 pounds) to the tailgate of the truck, but it took me, HA, and the Hired Hand to get it up on top of the racks.

Soon we’ll be camping again!
