When we last left Twoprop’s driveway, it had just had 26 tons of gravel deposited on it. Now that tonnage needed to be raked flat and redistributed, mostly uphill. Did I mention 26 tons? Uphill?

The Hired Hand was putting in his usual extraordinary effort, and I even picked up a rake and knocked the occasional pebble uphill.

The world got a little brighter when our next-door neighbor arrived with his wheel loader.

It still wasn’t a walk in the park, even with the heavy machinery, but he worked hard and got the gravel grossly redistributed while the Hand and I fine-tuned with rakes. The neighbor even did some raking after he’d finished using his loader.

It was a hard day’s work overall, but the results are stunning. A freshly-graveled drive is always a sight to behold. Now we need some rain to wash down the rock dust and water the plants (it’s been frightfully dry for a mist forest) and our storage tank to save some of that water for the future.
