I had a pretty blah day today. Dyspepsia and a slight headache. It was also dark and rainy. I spent much of the day in bed.
Today would have been my dad’s 96th birthday. I’m not too sure how I feel about it.
Looking back at twoprops.net I see that at this time a year ago I was struggling with two smart plugs that had disappeared. I’m happy to report that both, eventually, turned up in odd places.
We also had just received our new dryer. It’s been used a lot, even today. It has been so wet this year (176 inches of rain, year-to-date) that, without a dryer, I think we’d all be moldy.
We also were awash in eggs and avocados this time last year. Right now, the chickens are only laying about one egg per day. There are avocados on the tree, but only a couple have fallen and the rats got those.
My ebike pedal was broken last year. We did get the replacement parts (shipped via my mainland-dwelling father-in-law) under the warranty (though it had technically expired) and the bike is working well. Now all I need are more days without rain when I can ride.
I had just put in the kitchen point-of-use hot water heater. Other than being surprised at how much of our energy goes to heating water for the kitchen sink, it has worked great over the past year.
I played around today with one of the new Meshtastic nodes I got yesterday. I think they’ll work out, but I’m still pretty isolated and I’m dearly hoping that putting one high in the air on a bamboo stalk and scattering a few around the mountainside will improve reliability.
