Our electric fence experiment didn’t go very well. I wasn’t happy that the sheep had no shade or shelter from rain, though HA frequently reminds me that “they’re livestock, not pets.” More notably, though, they mowed the 80x80 foot space to the ground in just over a day. Moving the fence every day is not my idea of a good use of our time.

Instead, we have extended the fence across the pasture. The sheep will now have about 1½ acre of grass pasture, plus some jungle with shade trees and weather shelter. At the same time, HA’s ornamental plants and fruit trees will be protected from the predations of the always-hungry Vinda, Lu, and Naan.

We still need to trim up under the fence so long grass doesn’t short it out. Then we’ll install the ground rod, power it up, and let the sheep go wild.
