The solar panels are being mounted today. They’re a bit more visible from the deck than I had anticipated, mostly because of all the vegetation that we removed during the trenching.

The mounts are pretty cool, even if the lack the simplicity of my t-post and steel rope temporary solutions.

I didn’t want to pour concrete — it seems environmentally irresponsible and it’s a total mess to remove when it’s outlived its time. These mounts sit on top of long augurs driven into the earth with a Bobcat.

We’re very close to our first big energy-from-the-sun experience, but we still haven’t hooked the feeder up to the house.

Our little generator is starting to make ominous noises, so we’re getting the panels in just in time! (I suspect it just needs its air cleaner washed, which I’m going to do now.)
