We got some unexpected sad news today.
The man from whom we bought the island place, who had lived there for decades and raised a family there, died in an accident today.
We had gotten to know him pretty well. HA frequently spoke with him on the phone. He had a party for us before he moved out of the place, so we could get to meet him and the neighbors. We got to know a lot about the history of the place from him, and we truly enjoyed his stories and his company.
Accidental deaths are a shock. Obviously, we knew he wasn’t going to live forever but we had no reason to expect him to leave us so suddenly. In fact, he had planned a trip back to the island and was going to stay with us; I was looking forward to seeing him again.
