I have always liked good toaster ovens. They usually heat quickly, and in hot weather it’s easy to move them outside so you’re not heating up the whole house.
We are currently using an old propane oven with pilot lights. Even when it’s not in use, it burns gas, heats up the house, and emits nitrogen oxides which aren’t healthy. On top of that, of course, it takes us farther afield of our “burn nothing” goal.
The problem with most toaster ovens is that they’re just too small. I’m a baker, and I need an oven that’s big enough for a full loaf of bread — or, in the case of Queen B Sourdough Bread — big enough to hold a good-sized Dutch oven.
I found this large toaster oven with French doors on Amazon, and it’s big enough to do my baking. We haven’t had it long enough to know if it’s really going to work well, but I also bought a second induction cooktop and have now turned off the gas on the old gas range.
