I’m going in the hot tub almost every night. Even better, HA often joins me. It’s a Very Good Thing™. One problem, though, is that it can be impressively dark out here at night. I have rarely lived in a place with such dark skies. It’s awesome for stargazing, but it can get a little tricky navigating out of the hot tub and up a flight of stairs with wet, slippery feet.
Too much light would spoil the effect (and annoy the nearby astronomers), but I thought that some small solar fence lights might give just enough light for safety and ambience. I put one on the house wall behind the tub and another over the steps just to see if they would get enough light to charge (it’s the north side of the house). When they tested okay, I put a couple more over the stairs, one on the step from the tub deck to the stairway, and a few on the wall of the house.
Now I just have to wait for nighttime to see how it all looks in the dark. Stay tuned — I hope to update this page tonight.
